Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- There are many pine-nut trees in mountains of the DPRK.
Pine nut contains much content of vitamin B1 and protein. It also has rich lysine and amino acid essential for the physical growth and linolic acid effective for the preventive treatment of hypertension and arteriosclerosis.
For this reason, the Korean people have widely used pine nuts in their dietary life.
They made pine-nut porridge by mixing with rice.
The porridge cooked with pine nuts, specialty of Mt Kumgang, was famous.
The cooking method of this dish, called Kumgang pine-nut porridge, is as follows:
First, boil rice soaked for about an hour with certain amount of water.
Grind certain amount of rice and roasted pine nuts of which inner shells are peeled to make pine-nut juice.
Mix the pine-nut juice with rice porridge.
As a typical Koryo medicinal food, the pine-nut porridge is good for refreshment and improving nutritive conditions.
It was registered as a national intangible cultural heritage. -0-
