Press Statement of Permanent Representative of DPRK to UN

Pyongyang, October 30 (KCNA) -- Kim Song, permanent representative of the DPRK to the UN, issued the following press statement on October 29:

Despite the unanimous desire and demand of the international community to reform the UN into a genuine multilateral center where justice and impartiality are realized, retrogressive acts are still being committed.

In the venue of the 3rd Committee of the 81st session of the UN General Assembly where the report of the "special rapporteur" on human rights issue in the DPRK was discussed, the "special rapporteur" and the ROK, Japan and other anti-DPRK forces committed serious politically-motivated provocations against the DPRK, malignantly slandering its policy for ensuring genuine human rights and its actual situation.

I express extreme contempt at the repeated malicious practice of encroaching upon the dignity and sovereignty of a sovereign state in the sacred UN arena and denounce and reject it in the strongest tone.

The UN, which regards peace, development and human rights as its core pillar, is now faced with the worst trust crisis and structural crisis unprecedented in its 80-year history. This is mainly attributable to the connivance at the high-handed and arbitrary practices of the specific forces who are abusing the UN organizations and office regulations for their sinister political purposes.

A typical example is the system of the "special rapporteur" on human rights issue in the DPRK, which has existed as a tool of the U.S. and its vassal forces to antagonize the DPRK for over 20 years.

As for the "special rapporteur", he is a political servant who has been active as a "special class hero" in confrontation with the DPRK while frequently flying to the ROK, our invariable hostile state, to meet human scum. So, it is impossible to expect any reasonable thinking and fair judgment from him.

Establishing the public order in society and enhancing the function and role of the law-enforcement organs, irrespective of any country on earth, is regarded as an essential process for ensuring social stability and human rights.

However, the "special rapporteur" deliberately turned away from the lawful course of state management, the most elementary and universal one, and viciously slandered the DPRK's policy of strengthening the discipline and enhancing the role of its law enforcement organs. It highlights again his morbid repugnancy and inveterate hostility toward the DPRK.

In particular, the "special rapporteur" branded the efforts of our state to defend the people's rights to life at the highest level with scientific and preemptive emergency anti-epidemic measures during the world health crisis as a "violation of the right to life". His hysteric behavior clearly proves his identity as a heinous confrontation maniac.

The most serious threat to the right to life comes from the war moves of the U.S. and its vassal forces which unhesitatingly encroach upon the sovereignty and territorial integrity of other countries in order to realize their exclusive ambition for hegemony.

They openly violate the state sovereignty of other countries on the basis of the jungle law "Strength precisely means justice", target educational, medical and sports facilities with ultra-modern military hardware and wage the hideous unethical war of massacring civilians on a daily basis.

The present miserable reality, in which a weak country becomes a victim of aggression and war, being deprived of its sovereignty and territory and exposed to merciless violation of human rights, intuitively shows the validity and vitality of the policy on ensuring human rights of the DPRK that reliably defends the national security and provides the best human rights to the people by dint of its powerful deterrent for self-defence.

No matter how often those including the "special rapporteur" on human rights issue in the DPRK may resort to human rights farce according to the order of the hostile forces, nothing will change and no false rumour and vituperation can cover up the true picture of the human rights situation in the DPRK where the people have become the masters of everything.

Human rights apart from state sovereignty are nothing but an armchair argument, and human rights are an absolutely inviolable domain for us.

We will never pardon the vicious anti-DPRK "human rights" farce of those seeking to hurt the Korean-style socialist system centered on the popular masses chosen by all the Korean people, but defend the dignity of the state and the rights and interests of the people in a responsible manner. -0-
