Aquatic Resources Increases in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 25 (KCNA) -- Officials and working people in the DPRK fish farming sector raised more than 204 million fry and released them into rivers, lakes and reservoirs this year.

The Taedonggang Fish Farming and Spawning Station in Pyongyang laid the foundation for the feed production by high-density cultivation so as to boost the weight ratio, and established a scientific system for producing fry. As a result, it overfulfilled its plan for releasing fry at 110 percent.

Technicians and workers of the Samsok Fish Spawning Station have successfully solved technical problems arising in ensuring water temperature and quality favorable for the growth of fry.

The Ryongsong Fish Spawning Station has arranged fish breeding ponds according to the species of fishes and the stage of their growth and raised fishes in a way suited their biological characteristics with a sense of responsibility, thus increasing the rate of the survival rate.

The Sunchon City Fish Spawning Station and the Jungsan County Fish Spawning Station in South Phyongan Province and the Songhwa County Fish Spawning Station and the Sinchon County Hwasan Fish Spawning Farm in South Hwanghae Province took scientific measures for feeding and preventing diseases and used advanced fish farming techniques to release lots of fry into rivers. -0-
