Efforts for Steady Development of Agricultural Production in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Today is the World Food Day.

Many countries of the world are now striving to increase the agricultural production, understanding that the political stability and social development of the country depend on the solution of the food problem.

Our country, too, is directing its main efforts to putting the agricultural sector to an advanced level and developing agricultural production continuously under the leadership of the Workers' Party of Korea.

The state support to farms is boosted every year.

The country's irrigation system has been further perfected and the material and technical foundations have been laid for producing high-efficiency farm machinery and equipment.

The area of wheat cultivation has been increased with high-yielding varieties as the main and methods of direct-seeding, humus-pot seedling cultivation and ground cover cultivation have been widely introduced.

Many farms have made positive use of paddy-field fish breeding and organic farming method of mud snail and manured and tended crops in a scientific way, thus increasing the per-hectare yield.

They also make achievements in the development and introduction of the agricultural information technology capable of optimizing the production of new agricultural sci-tech products and agricultural production.

Thanks to the positive efforts made by the DPRK government to increase the agricultural production, a remarkable progress has been made in the work to solve the food problem for the people. -0-
