Harvest of Wheat and Barley Mainly Completed in DPRK

Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- Farm fields in the DPRK are seething with the enthusiasm of agricultural officials and workers and helpers to attain a rich harvest in the farming of early crops this year.

As of July 3, the harvest of wheat and barley was mainly completed across the country and threshing is progressing at over 80 percent.

Haeju City and Samchon, Unchon and Anak counties of South Hwanghae Province have concentrated their efforts on raising the proportion of mechanization in farming while keeping various kinds of harvesters and tractors in full-capacity operation.

Sariwon and Songnim cities and Rinsan, Kumchon and Unpha counties of North Hwanghae Province have scrupulously organized manpower and mobilized all means of mechanization to finish the harvest of wheat and barley.

Farms in Phyongsong City and Sukchon, Mundok and Jungsan counties of South Phyongan Province and in Sonchon, Tongnim and Unsan counties of North Phyongan Province raised the operation rate of farm machines to carry out their daily plans without fail.

Mangyongdae, Sadong and Rangnang districts of Pyongyang Municipality set a proper working order under the condition that harvest was moved up as compared with the same period of last year, and ensured the quality and speed of harvesting.

Onchon County and Waudo and Kangso districts of Nampho Municipality finished the harvest of wheat and barley and have concentrated all efforts on finishing the farming of early crops while directing main efforts to increasing the efficiency of threshing means.

Officials and agricultural workers in South Hamgyong Province and Kaesong Municipality are also concentrating their efforts on threshing and storing crops while transporting them in good time as the wheat and barley harvest has progressed rapidly. -0-
