Construction of Small- and Medium-sized Hydroelectric Power Stations Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, August 3 (KCNA) -- Officials and people across the DPRK are waging a struggle to increase the generating capacity by hydroelectric power stations, according to Rodong Sinmun.

Kangwon Province is stepping up the construction of the Ichon Army-People Power Station No. 2 and the Hoeyang Army-People Power Station No. 2.

The province finished the building of the dam with a capacity of storing tens of thousands of cubic meters of water and the foundation excavation for generator room.

Jagang Province drew up annual plans with the aim of building several small- and medium-sized power stations during the new five-year plan and is pushing ahead with the construction of power stations while giving priority to the supply of equipment and materials.

Efforts are being directed to the construction of small- and medium-sized power stations including the Tokchon Power Station and the Hamhung Youth Power Station No. 2 in South Phyongan and South Hamgyong provinces.

When the small- and medium-sized power stations now under construction in various provinces are completed, tens of thousands of more kilowatts of generating capacity will be created across the country. -0-
