Remains of Martyrs Newly Buried at Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery

Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- Remains of martyrs were buried at the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery on the occasion of the 73rd anniversary of the victory in the Fatherland Liberation War. They are Ji Chon Ryul and Kim Pong Guan, heroes of the DPRK.

In the days of the hard-fought Fatherland Liberation War, the martyrs performed heroic feats in the decisive struggle against the imperialist aggressors, true to the outstanding military idea and Juche-based tactics of President Kim Il Sung.

From June to December 1951, Ji Chon Ryul was awarded the title of DPRK Hero for his feats of shooting down eight enemy planes. Later, he shot down several enemy planes in an aircraft-hunting team.

In 1953, Kim Pong Gwan joined a sniper team and performed a brilliant feat of shooting 160 enemy soldiers in a little over six months during the war and worked hard for the prosperity of the country after the war.

Ceremonies for burying the remains of the martyrs took place at the Fatherland Liberation War Martyrs Cemetery on July 21.

The remains of the wife of Kim Pong Gwan were buried together. Remains of the wives of the already-buried martyrs Cha Ho Nam, Kim Kwang Su, Ri Wan Gun, Chae Jong Bo, Choe Un Hak and Ri Hui Gap were buried with their husbands'.

The participants in the ceremonies laid bouquets at the tombstones of the martyrs and paid silent tribute. -0-
