Efforts Made to Prevent Disasters
Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) -- Ryanggang Province of the DPRK is taking measures to prevent disasters.
After learning about the state of Hyesan-Samjiyon railway section, the province has monitored the places where rocks may fall and a landslide may occur. And it has also ensured the safety of sub-grades by maintaining retaining walls, ditches, etc.
Agricultural workers in Samjiyon City and Taehongdan and Paegam counties ploughed potato fields in a responsible manner and finished digging drainage canals by combining farm machines and draught animals according to the conditions of fields.
The counties of Pochon and Samsu are directing their efforts to the anti-land-sliding projects in order to minimize the damage from the possible flooding and landslides.
Farms in the counties of Phungso and Unhung are taking steps to protect crops from the possible heavy rain and strong winds and prevent the arable land from being washed away by landslides.
The workers in the electric-power industry of the province are repairing and maintaining the hydraulic structures and electric transmission and transformation equipment and regulating the water level of reservoirs in a scientific way.
The province is establishing a multiple communication system to ensure the promptness of command and improving the ability to cope with the emergency by reinforcing emergency rescue and medical teams.
In the meantime, the province produced over 100 efficient mobile combined threshers and sent them to farms. -0-
