High-quality Refractory for Metallurgical Furnace Developed
Pyongyang, October 24 (KCNA) -- A research group of the Metal Engineering Faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology developed high-quality refractory for metallurgical furnace, according to Rodong Sinmun.
The microporous corundum brick made with locally available raw materials and technology is helpful to lowering the consumption of raw materials and greatly extending the serviceable life of oxygen heat blast furnace as it has high strength of materials and strong resistance to erosion of alkali, slag and molten iron.
As a result, a scientific and technological guarantee was provided for increasing iron output while drastically increasing the number of working days of furnace and reducing energy consumption.
Scientists of the university are now conducting researches to confirm the technical characteristics and economic effectiveness of the newly developed refractory in a short time through on-site introduction. -0-
