Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery

Pyongyang, July 22 (KCNA) -- The Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery in the DPRK is a large-scale sapling production base that contributes to the forest restoration and the creation of raw materials in the province by producing tens of millions of saplings annually.

The provincial tree nursery has greenhouses made with plastic sheets, substrate-producing ground, seed selection and sowing ground, building for producing humus pots of saplings, circular cutting bed, outdoor cultivation ground and standardized nursery field, producing saplings of good species for ensuring tree planting.

Since the beginning of this year when the second forest restoration started, it has produced organic fertilizer and humus soil 1.5 times as much as in the past. It increased the fertility of the outdoor cultivation ground, completed the spring seed sowing in a short span of time and produced and supplied saplings needed for spring tree planting.

In recent years the provincial tree nursery has developed and introduced various nutritive solutions essential for improving the growth of saplings and made efforts to put the sapling production on a scientific basis.

The nursery has steadily updated the method of sapling cultivation and production system for all-season tree planting, and managed and operated greenhouses made with plastic sheets, outdoor cultivation grounds, etc. to send saplings to many units including raw material bases of the regional-industry factories.

On July 22, 2018, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the Kangwon Provincial Tree Nursery and said that the nursery should produce and supply more good species of saplings of high economic and ornamental value suited to the climatic and soil conditions of the province so as to get actual benefit from the afforestation. -0-
