Jonggwang Temple
Pyongyang, August 12 (KCNA) -- There is Jonggwang Temple in Riwon County, South Hamgyong Province of the DPRK. It was built in the mid-seventh century.
The temple preserves in original state historical relics including paintings.
Originally there were more than ten buildings at the temple. However most of them were disappeared due to the Japanese imperialists' destruction and plunder and now only a few such as Taeung Hall are standing there.
Taeung Hall, the main building, has hip-saddle roof and double eaves and its decorative engravings are very excellent.
The hip-saddle roof which was harmonized with a green forest shows the excellence of the Korean architecture strong in national sentiments.
The temple also has Myongbu Hall and a stone pagoda.
