Work to Increase Generating Capacity by Natural Energy Accelerated in DPRK

Pyongyang, October 3 (KCNA) – According to Minju Joson, successes are being made in different parts of the country in the work to increase the generating capacity by natural energy.

South Hamgyong Province has set up a solar power generation system with a capacity of hundreds of kilowatts on the bank of the Songchon River with favorable sunshine conditions and put the production of electricity on a normal footing. At the same time, relevant measures are taken to create solar power generation capacity in various organs and regions.

Jagang Province is pushing ahead with technical preparations for establishing the interconnection solar power generation system with a capacity of 1 000 kilowatts by combining small- and medium-sized hydroelectric power stations with solar power generation system in Hungju-dong area of Kanggye City.

Counties are taking measures to increase the production of electricity by manufacturing and installing micro hydro generators by themselves.

North Phyongan Province, in contact with scientists of the State Academy of Sciences, is giving precedence to the preparations for introducing the newly-developed wind-powered generator into the Sonchon County Foodstuff Factory. -0-
