National Sci-tech Presentation in Sector of Metallic Materials Held in DPRK

Pyongyang, September 19 (KCNA) -- A national sci-tech presentation in the sector of metallic materials took place at the Ferrous Metal Research Institute of the State Academy of Sciences from September 16 to 18 under the sponsorship of the Metallic Materials Society of Korea of the Central Committee of the General Federation of Science and Technology of Korea.

The presentation is aimed at actively sharing, disseminating and generalizing the scientific and technological achievements and experience gained in developing metallic materials and realizing the domestic production, true to the decisions of the Ninth Congress of the Workers' Party of Korea and the plenary meetings of the Party Central Committee.

Present there were officials, teachers, researchers and graduate students of various units including the State Academy of Sciences, Kim Chaek University of Technology, Pyongyang University of Mechanical Engineering and Phyongsong University of Coal Mining.

Presented to it were more than 70 valuable papers perfected in the course of briskly conducting scientific research on improving the quality of metallic materials and processing technology.

The participants paid attention to the proposals for improving the quality of bearing steel produced with a large-scale industrial method and improving the characteristics of hard alloy for drilling tools.

During the presentation there was a lecture on the worldwide production of bearing steel. -0-
