Events Held to Mark Anniversary of DIU

Pyongyang, October 16 (KCNA) -- Working people's organizations in the DPRK held meetings for hearing impressions on works on October 15 to mark the 100th formation anniversary of the Down-with-Imperialism Union.

Present there were Ri Won Jong, chairman of the C.C., General Federation of Trade Unions of Korea, Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the C.C., Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea, Jon Hyang Sun, chairwoman of the C.C., Socialist Women's Union of Korea, officials of the working people's organizations, workers and trade union members, agricultural workers and women's union members.

At the meetings the performers highly praised the exploits of President Kim Il Sung who formed a new-type revolutionary vanguard organization, the first of its kind in the history of Korea, to usher in the origin of the Korean revolution and provide the glorious historical root of the Workers' Party of Korea.

They noted that the report "Let Us Overthrow Imperialism" made by the President at the meeting to form the DIU on Oct. 17, 1926 is an immortal programme as it declared the birth of the DIU, the first revolutionary organization of Juche type, and indicated important guidelines for liberating Korea.

They referred to the personality of the President as the peerlessly great man who expanded and strengthened the revolutionary organizations into a wider area and mobilized the young communists for the implementation of the programme of the DIU.

They explained that the WPK's programme and the principles of party building and activities were provided and the backbone for founding the party was fostered with the DIU.

They pledged to firmly inherit the indomitable faith and noble spirit, cherished by the pioneering generation of the Korean revolution, and uphold the ideas and leadership of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un with single-minded loyalty. -0-
