National Meeting Held to Mark Centenary of Formation of DIU

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- A national meeting took place at the People's Palace of Culture on October 16 to mark the centenary of the formation of the Down-with-Imperialism Union (DIU).

Present there were senior officials of the Party and the government, officials of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, leading officials of the Cabinet, commissions, ministries and national institutions, teachers and researchers of the Party cadres training institutions, officials of institutions and enterprises, persons of distinguished service, labor innovators and teaching staff and students of the revolutionary schools in Pyongyang.

The national anthem of the DPRK was played.

Ri Il Hwan, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, made a report "Let us add eternal shine to the great history of the Juche revolution pioneered by the DIU".

The reporter said that 100 years are by no means a long history but the 100-year-long journey of the Korean revolution is the immortal annals in which the country and people that might be disappear on the world map forever made a great change in their destiny and appeared as a prestigious and powerful socialist state and the dignified and happy people and that the DIU was a starting point of such epochal change.

The DIU, the first genuine communist vanguard organization formed by President Kim Il Sung on October 17, 1926, is the root of the WPK and a model of unity, he said, adding that there could be 100 years of glory and victory in which a small country under colonial rule has been turned into a dignified, powerful and prosperous country and the long-cherished desire and ideal of the people realized thanks to the historic day when the anchor of Juche was pulled up.

The whole course of the Korean revolution is the sacred one in which the WPK has recorded only victories by thoroughly applying the principle of independence and the socialist idea set forth by the DIU, he said, referring to the immortal historic position and great vitality of the DIU which has firmly guaranteed the building of a socialist power independent in politics, self-supporting in economy and self-reliant in national defence, serving as the lifeline and eternal cornerstone of the Korean revolution.

He ardently called for making a dynamic struggle to bring earlier the beautiful future envisaged by the pioneering generation of the revolution, rallied close around the Party Central Committee headed by respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

All the participants responded with loud applause.

The meeting ended with the playing of song "Long Live the Workers' Party of Korea". -0-
