Cheers of Korean People for Peerless Patriot

Pyongyang, October 14 (KCNA) -- More than 80 years have passed since President Kim Il Sung made a speech on his triumphal return to the homeland before the liberated Korean people.

On October 14, 1945, there took place a Pyongyang mass rally to welcome his triumphal return at the then Pyongyang Public Playground, where Kim Il Sung Stadium is now located.

On that day every year, the Korean people look back on the unforgettable historic day when the loud cheers of "Long live General Kim Il Sung!" resounded far and wide.

From early morning, a lot of people in Pyongyang and from Sinuiju, Hamhung, Chongjin, Haeju and other parts of the country gathered at the playground and the foot of Moran Hill.

At 13:00, when the President appeared on the platform, the crowds raised stormy cheers in admiration.

The then newspaper Pyongyang Minbo said that when General Kim Il Sung, a hero whom the Koreans had revered and longed for very much, made his youthful appearance, the venue was choked with stormy cheers and everyone was so excited that they all cried silently.

That day the President made a speech before the cheering crowds and called upon everyone to turn out in the building of a new Korea and build a democratic, independent and sovereign state by displaying patriotic enthusiasm.

When the President finished his speech, thunderous cheers of "Long live General Kim Il Sung!" went up among the crowds again.

The cheers of "Hurrah!" on that day was an eruption of deep reverence for the peerless patriot, the benefactor of national liberation, and an expression of the Korean people's faith to go all out for building a new, prosperous country in hearty response to the President's appealing speech. -0-
