Day of Great Victory
Pyongyang, August 15 (KCNA) -- It has been 81 years since Korea was liberated.
President
Along with August 15, the Korean people could regain sovereignty, territory, resources, history and culture, have all chances of enjoying freedom and carving out their destiny, and proudly embark on the road of achieving democratic development and happiness.
The peasants, who had to leave their dear native places because they did not have even a patch of land to sow seeds, became masters of the land and the country thanks to the agrarian reform law promulgated on March 5, 1946, the year after the national liberation.
The workers, who were subject to all sorts of maltreatment and insult by the Japanese imperialists and capitalists at the factories which were little short of hell, became true masters of the factories and the means of production thanks to the law on nationalization of major industries promulgated on August 10, 1946.
The Korean women, who had been suffering from double or treble exploitation and oppression under the whip of the Japanese imperialists, landlords and capitalists, could retake the human dignity and have equal rights with men in all spheres of political, economic and cultural life thanks to the Law on Sex Equality promulgated on July 30, 1946.
People of different strata could become deputies, officials, model workers and model farmers, making a tangible contribution to the prosperity and wellbeing of the country and its people.
Indeed, Korea's liberation was a historic event that brought about a radical turn in the destiny of the country and its people.
Today the Democratic People's Republic of Korea has reached the highest level of national prestige and power and the dignity and position of its people have been incomparably enhanced under the guidance of respected Comrade
