Steps Taken to Cope with Disastrous Abnormal Weather

Pyongyang, July 9 (KCNA) -- The metal industry of the DPRK steps up the project to cope with the disastrous abnormal weather.

The Kim Chaek Iron and Steel Complex completed the dredging in the shortest time by concentrating excavators on the rivers designated as risk objects. And it has carried out the building of retaining walls and the embankment project.

The Chollima Steel Complex finished the project to expand the sewerage network and increased the water passage capacity. It also replaced the steel sheets for roofs of the ingot and smelter shops to ensure the safety of production buildings and equipment.

The Musan Mining Complex carried out the planned dredging and the anti-land-sliding projects for valley streams and has realigned the mining steps and dressing plants to protect concentrated iron ores from being washed away.

The Puryong Ferroalloy Factory, Unnyul and Ramjong mines, the Nampho Welding Rod Factory and other units, too, have repaired the drainage facilities and provided spare parts for the regular production. -0-
