State Academic Degrees and Titles Awarded

Pyongyang, July 16 (KCNA) - State academic degrees and titles of the DPRK were conferred on intellectuals who have contributed to the economic development of the country, the improvement of people's living standards and the education of rising generation.

Present at the awarding ceremony held on July 15 were Vice-Premier of the Cabinet Jon Sung Guk and intellectuals.

After a decision of the DPRK State Commission for Conferment of Academic Degrees and Titles was read out, the title of academician was awarded to Kong Myong Song, director of the Folklore Institute under the Academy of Social Sciences.

Professorship was conferred on 10 persons including Jong Sung Ho, dean of a faculty of Kim Il Sung University, Ri Jae Bok, dean of a faculty of Kim Chaek University of Technology, and Sim Jae Man, director of the Hamhung Branch of the State Academy of Sciences.

Doctorate went to 65 persons including Ho Chol Hwan, head of a department of Kim Il Sung University, Kim Yong Ho, director of an institute of Kim Chaek University of Technology, Kang Hui Song, director of an institute of Pyongyang University of Architecture, Choe Song Nam, dean of a faculty of Pyongyang Han Tok Su University of Light Industry, and Om Song Nam, vice rector of Pyongyang Jang Chol Gu University of Commerce. -0-
