Pyongyang, October 31 (KCNA) -- Following are major news items and articles in leading newspapers of the DPRK on Saturday:

- Jo Yong Won, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, met the foreign minister of the Swiss Confederation.

- Talks were held between the DPRK foreign minister and the foreign minister of the Swiss Confederation.

- The Standing Committee of the Supreme People's Assembly of the DPRK issued a decree on awarding the title of model sports district (city) to Ryokpho District of Pyongyang Municipality and Tanchon City of South Hamgyong Province.

- A spokesman for the DPRK Ministry of National Defence issued a press statement as regards the fact that in recent days, the provocative frenzy of the enemy states has unprecedentedly escalated the military tension in the Korean peninsula.

- The Thrice Three-Revolution Red Flag was awarded to the Chongnam Coal-miners' Garment Factory of the Anju Area Coal-mining Complex.

- The DPRK Championships and the national exhibition of IT successes-2026 closed.

- Young people in the capital city volunteered to work at the worksites for implementing the decisions of the Workers' Party of Korea.

- DPRK players Pak Pyol and O Kwang Ok won the 2026 International Weightlifting Federation World Championships.

- The Swiss foreign minister and his party left here for home.
