DPRK's Defence Scientific Research Institutes Conduct Test of New-type Torpedo Weapon System

Pyongyang, October 17 (KCNA) -- There took place a test-fire of Zam-2.0, a new-type super-speed precisely guided torpedo weapon system which has been pushed forward by the DPRK's defence scientific research institutes at all levels as a joint development project.

The Academy of Defence Science, the Missile Administration and the Torpedo Weapon Research Bureau of the DPRK conducted a torpedo underwater test-fire on October 15 to confirm the successful technical updating of a new-type torpedo weapon system.

The test is part of routine activities of the defence scientific research institutes for putting weapon systems on a highly-developed technical basis.

Leading officials in the field of national defence scientific research oversaw the test. They were convinced that the test served as a great success foreseeing a significant change in the actual development of the Navy.

AI technology was applied to the target detection and the guidance function of the new-type super-speed precisely guided torpedo.

The test proved the core technology for raising the efficiency of propulsion and the performance of rocket propulsion device, which have been completed through more than 180 rounds of different tests over the past five years. -0-
