Introduction of Organic Farming

Pyongyang, July 4 (KCNA) -- The introduction of organic farming is getting brisk in rural areas of the DPRK.

Cities and counties in South Hamgyong and North Phyongan provinces have expanded the areas under organic farming based on mud snails, keeping the technological specifications in releasing the young mud snails to farm fields.

Farms in South Phyongan and North Hamgyong provinces set right sites for paddy-field fish breeding and their sizes properly in conformity with biological characteristics of fish and breeding and management conditions. They also put the release of fry and the supply of natural and artificial feed on a sci-tech basis to provide a guarantee for increasing the productivity of fish per hectare.

Farms in Kangwon Province and other regions, too, are stepping up the work to introduce various organic farming methods on an extension basis. -0-
