Press Statement on Third Strategic Dialogue between Foreign Ministers of DPRK and Russian Federation

Pyongyang, July 21 (KCNA) -- A press statement on the third strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea and the Russian Federation was issued on July 20.

The press statement is as follows:

The third strategic dialogue between Choe Son Hui, foreign minister of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Sergey Lavrov, foreign minister of the Russian Federation, was held in Moscow on July 20 at a time when the comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries is vigorously developing thanks to the strategic guidance of the heads of state of the two countries.

The strategic dialogue between the two foreign ministers involved constructive and beneficial strategic communication, with the main emphasis on the implementation of the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership between the two countries, high-level visits, the plan for multi-faceted cooperation between the two countries and diplomatic coordination on major international issues of mutual concern, and reached a consensus on all the issues brought up for discussion.

Acknowledging that the comradely relations of friendship between the heads of state of the two countries serve as the most powerful driving force for guaranteeing the durable and future-oriented development of the DPRK-Russia relations, the two sides reaffirmed their steadfast political will to accelerate the long-term multi-faceted development of the bilateral relations, irrespective of the changing situation, under the strategic guidance at the highest level.

The side of the Russian Federation expressed full support for all efforts and measures of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea to oppose all hostile acts posing a serious threat to its present position and the right to development and defend its national sovereign rights and security interests.

The DPRK side expressed invariable support for all the internal and external policies of the Russian Federation to eliminate the root cause of the Ukrainian dispute and defend its national sovereignty, territorial integrity and international justice from the imperialist moves for hegemony.

To cope with the development of the situation having negative influence on global peace and stability, the two sides agreed to defend the purpose and principles of the UN Charter and other international law with sovereignty equality and non-interference in internal affairs as the core, find solutions to effectively counter the regional and global security challenges and continue the exchange of views between the external policy organs of the two countries including the strategic dialogue at ministerial level.

The third strategic dialogue between the foreign ministers of the DPRK and Russia serves as a significant occasion for further accelerating the comprehensive expansion and development of the bilateral relations and making positive contributions to ensuring regional and global peace and security in conformity with the spirit of the treaty on comprehensive strategic partnership. -0-
