Founding Anniversary of Jagang Provincial Sci-Tech Library Marked

Pyongyang, October 1 (KCNA) -- The Jagang Provincial Sci-Tech Library marked its 80th founding anniversary.

The library, founded on October 1, 1946, has written its proud history under the care of the peerlessly great men.

After national liberation, President Kim Il Sung set forth the tasks for provinces, cities and counties to form a popular library network, including the issue of setting up libraries through a social movement, and took measures to move the library to a picturesque place near the Inphung Pavilion in August 1958 so that the working people could enjoy their leisure time reading books.

Chairman Kim Jong Il clarified the issues arising in turning the library into a e-library on several occasions.

The library has developed into a powerful base for disseminating science and technology under the wise guidance of respected Comrade Kim Jong Un.

18 years ago, respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un looked round various rooms of the library, together with Chairman Kim Jong Il, and indicated the tasks for its management and operation. He gave instructions to build a modern sci-tech library in each provincial seat and guided the construction.

Over the past 80 years, the library has contributed to preparing the officials and working people as masters of science and technology and those responsible for developing science and technology.

A meeting took place on the spot on September 30 to mark the 80th founding anniversary of the library.
