Efforts Concentrated on Farming
Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- The agricultural workers of the DPRK concentrate their efforts on the cultivation of crops in the latter half of their growth.
Rural areas across the country, including South Hwanghae, Hamgyong and Phyongan provinces, have introduced advanced methods of cultivation and management so that paddy rice growth is not disturbed.
Waterways and levees are well managed so that crops are not flooded. Various plant nutrients and growth regulators are applied to increasing their resistance to diseases.
They have made detailed study of the growth of crops in fields and plots, taken thorough agro-technological measures and directed efforts to the nutrition management of paddy rice.
While increasing the photosynthetic capacity of paddy rice and promoting their ear ripening, they have given precedence to the prevention of harmful insects caused by wet weather and raised the scientific level of manuring.
Agricultural workers are striving to increase the per-hectare yields as high as possible until harvest and make preparations to cope with the ever-changing situation promptly by examining the vulnerable sites in detail. -0-
