Vitality of Korean-style Advanced Farming Method Proved in Agricultural Production
Pyongyang, October 29 (KCNA) -- In recent years, the DPRK has vigorously pushed ahead with its scheme to introduce the Korean-style green cultivation and fish farming method, an advanced organic farming method capable of increasing grain and fish production, presenting spectacular scenes of bumper harvest of catfish farming as well as rice-field farming in the rural areas across the country.
The rice fields which introduced the method of paddy-field fish breeding on a trial basis reached a total of more than 2 000 hectares in the rural areas across the country this year. The farms that applied the method are foreseeing the crop estimate of an average of 7 tons, a maximum of 13 tons per hectare.
Under the guidance of respected Comrade
The energetic guidance of the respected Comrade General Secretary, who gave instructions on the benefits of the combined system of green cultivation and fish farming and the issues of putting paddy-field fish breeding on a scientific, regulated and standardized basis, served as a driving force to make paddy-field fish breeding brisk across the country.
On the basis of the experience gained by the supply base of a unit of the Korean People's Army in harvesting more than 10 tons of rice per hectare in the low-yielding paddy fields by introducing organic farming through fish farming, the scientific farming promotion team has intensified its activities to establish a comprehensive system of green cultivation and fish farming of our own style.
Amid the growing public interest in paddy-field fish breeding, a vigorous campaign was waged across the country to expand and introduce green cultivation and fish farming method of our own style.
The Agricultural Commission and agricultural guidance organs at all levels set model units and organized demonstrations and passing-on-technique meetings to intensify technical guidance to raise the scientific level of paddy-field fish breeding.
Enthusiastic agricultural workers concluded the selection of right soil and the remaking of paddy fields in a short span of time.
The validity and vitality of the policy of the Workers' Party of Korea on expanding and introducing green cultivation and fish farming method of our own style have been proved in practice since the first year's farming.
The paddy fields that introduced the method of paddy-field fish breeding across the country not only had an unusual bumper crop but also saved hundreds of tons of fertilizer and thousands of kilograms of agrochemicals.
They also witnessed a good harvest of catfish farming.
At the time of the harvest, the young catfish, which were 7-10 centimeters in size when they were released in paddy fields, grew to an average of 0.8-1.3 kg, a maximum of over 3 kg, swarming in paddy fields. -0-
