Pyongyang, August 25 (KCNA) -- Following are major news items and articles in leading newspapers of the DPRK on Tuesday:

- Articles mark the anniversary of Chairman Kim Jong Il's start of his leadership over the revolutionary armed forces.

- Premier Pak Thae Song inspected the Samjiyon Mountainous Tourist Resort under construction and industrial establishments in the city of Hamhung.

- Achievements are being made in different parts and units of the country.

- There opened an exhibition of educational experimental apparatuses, teaching aids and educational aid programs and an exhibition of donated educational equipment.

- There closed the seventh national exhibition of technical innovations by three-revolution teams.

- This year more than 100 graduates from universities of education and teachers training colleges volunteered to work as teachers at schools on islands and in mountainous areas and farm villages.

- The Central Committee of the Communist Party of the Russian Federation and the Central Council of the Communist Parties-the Communist Party of the Soviet Union sent flower baskets to the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill here.

- An article says that the NATO's moves to militarize the Arctic region are stoking the atmosphere of confrontation.
