Enlarged Plenary Meeting of UAWK Held

Pyongyang, February 1 (KCNA) -- The Eleventh Enlarged Plenary Meeting of the Ninth Central Committee of the Union of Agricultural Workers of Korea (UAWK) took place on January 31.

Present there were members and alternate members of the UAWK Central Committee and, as observers, union officials from Pyongyang and local areas.

The enlarged plenary meeting discussed the issue of thoroughly implementing the decisions of the Eleventh Plenary Meeting of the Eighth Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea, the issue of revising some contents of the Rules of the UAWK and other issues.

Han Jong Hyok, chairman of the UAWK Central Committee, made a report.

He referred to the detailed tasks for all the UAWK organizations to more vigorously conduct the organizational and political work to arouse all the members to the implementation of the Five-Year Plan for National Economic Development.

Saying that high is the working morale of the union members and agricultural workers to greet the 80th founding anniversary of the WPK with proud high-yielding successes, the reporter stressed the need for the union organizations at all levels to conduct the work for organizing and reviewing the socialist emulation in a substantial and meaningful way in accordance with each farming period and process, with the main emphasis on giving full play to patriotism of their members, and thus boost the masses' enthusiasm for production and emulation.

He called upon the participants to devote all their wisdom and enthusiasm to bringing about a practical change and substantial advance in the union work in line with its mission and duty as an ideological education body in the sacred struggle for implementing the decisions of the plenary meeting of the Party Central Committee.
