Sculpture Depicting Korean Anti-Japanese Guerrillas Erected in Patriot Park, Russia

Pyongyang, October 2 (KCNA) -- A sculpture depicting Korean anti-Japanese guerrillas was erected at Patriot Park in the suburbs of Moscow, Russia.

An unveiling ceremony of the sculpture took place on the spot on October 1.

Present there were No Kwang Chol, minister of National Defence of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, and Andrei Beloussov, minister of Defense of the Russian Federation.

Also on hand were members of the DPRK military delegation, DPRK Ambassador to Russia Sin Hong Chol, the defense attache of the DPRK embassy, Aide to the President of Russia Vladimir Medinski, Chairman of the National Defense Committee of the State Duma Andrei Kartapolov, officials of the Ministry of Defense and the Foreign Ministry.

At the ceremony, there was an introduction of the monument and the defence ministers of the two countries cut off the tape amid the music playing.

Then speeches were made.

Andrei Beloussov said that the sculpture depicting Korean anti-Japanese guerrillas can be called proudly to be a symbol of the invincible militant friendship between the peoples of the two countries, adding that the monument would make a great contribution to looking back upon the memory of the wartime generations and preserving the historical truth.

No Kwang Chol said in his speech that the two countries and peoples were closely united with warm affection of comrades-in-arms and friends in the bloody battles against the common enemy and this proud tradition has become the cornerstone of developing the DPRK-Russia relations into the ones of comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, adding that only victory and glory are in store for the peoples of the two countries steadily strengthening militant friendship and solidarity.

Vladimir Medinski said that the monument symbolizing the militant friendship between the two countries forged at the cost of blood during the Second World War and in the struggle for liberating Kursk Region represents the common history, expressing belief that the Russia-DPRK relations of friendship and cooperation would grow stronger in all fields in the future, too.

After the speeches, floral baskets and flowers were laid before the sculpture.

Written on the ribbon of a floral basket in the name of the military delegation of the DPRK were the letters reading "The anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs will be immortal."

The participants paid high tribute to the anti-Japanese revolutionary martyrs.

Earlier, the DPRK military delegation laid a wreath at the Tomb of the Unknown Soldiers by the wall of the Kremlin. -0-
