Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- The Phyongsong Artificial Leather Factory in the DPRK marked its 50th founding anniversary.

President Kim Il Sung personally chose the site on the spot and energetically led the construction process. He visited the factory which started its test operation in February Juche 68 (1979) to solve knotty problems including raw and other materials and personally named the factory.

Chairman Kim Jong Il in the last period of his life gave field guidance at the factory and indicated the orientation and ways for further raising the level of modernization and producing many more quality artificial leather.

In July 2016, the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un visited the factory and solved the issues arising in modernizing the production processes and had a photo taken with its employees.

Over the past 50 years since its foundation, officials, workers and technicians of the factory have worked hard to glorify the leadership exploits of the Workers' Party of Korea and put equipment on a modern basis and realize the localization of raw and other materials, regarding it as the lifeline of its development to increase the scientific and technological capabilities.

A meeting took place on Thursday to mark the 50th founding anniversary of the factory.

Present there were Kim Chang Sok, minister of Light Industry, Kim Jong Nam, secretary of the South Phyongan Provincial Committee of the WPK, officials and employees of the factory.
