Pyongyang, October 9 (KCNA) -- Following are major news items and articles in leading newspapers of the DPRK on Wednesday:

- On the occasion of the 79th founding anniversary of the Workers' Party of Korea,

The respected Comrade Kim Jong Un received messages of greeting from the president of the Syrian Arab Republic, the president and the vice-president of the Republic of Nicaragua and the president of the United Russia Party.

He received floral baskets from the general secretary of the C.C., Lao People's Revolutionary Party and president of the Lao People's Democratic Republic and the president of the State of Palestine.

He received a floral basket and a congratulatory letter from the diplomatic corps here and floral baskets from members of the Board of Directors of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation.

Members of the Lao embassy here laid a floral basket at the statues of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il on Mansu Hill. Members of the Board of Directors of the Kim Il Sung-Kim Jong Il Foundation and the family of a foreigner related to the revolutionary activities of Kim Il Sung sent floral baskets to the statues of the great leaders on Mansu Hill.
