Pyongyang, May 15 (KCNA) -- North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK is expanding the area of oil crop cultivation.

The province disseminated the experience gained in oil crop cultivation and its economic benefits and ensured that cities and counties gave precedence to securing seeds.

It selected a model unit and conducted a demonstration on scientific and technological problems arising in cultivating rape as an earlier crop to heighten the enthusiasm for emulation among cities and counties for introducing high-yielding oil crops.

As a result, not only the city and county raw material bases but also many farms planted rape as the first crop, thus increasing the area of oil crop cultivation by hundreds of hectares.

The province is encouraging cities and counties to cultivate oil crops suited to their geographical and climatic conditions. -0-
