Pyongyang, March 24 (KCNA) -- A regular meeting of the National Non-permanent Space Science and Technology Committee took place at
Pak Thae Song, secretary of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea who is chairman of the National Non-permanent Space Science and Technology Committee, guided the meeting.
Present there were members of the committee and officials concerned of the National Aerospace Development Administration, the State Commission of Science and Technology, the Education Commission, the State Academy of Sciences, universities and scientific research institutes.
The meeting reviewed the results made by universities and scientific research institutes in fulfilling their research tasks for 2022 and the first quarter of 2023 and the work of the committee members for carrying out their assignments, and seriously discussed the successes and the deviations and ways to tackle them.
The members of the committee were given new assignments to be fulfilled in the second quarter of this year.
The meeting stressed the need to unconditionally carry out the research tasks assigned for 2023 by the fixed time, mindful of the significance and importance of attaining the stepwise goals of aerospace development in dynamically promoting the overall development of socialist construction. It also called for directing special efforts to the core technical research for the development of satellite and the outer space sci-tech research tasks for agricultural production, meteorological observation, natural resources exploration, monitoring of natural disasters such as typhoon, flood and tidal wave, and the development of Korean-style communications system.
The regular meeting of the committee, organized by a state measure to bring about a radical turn in outer space development by facilitating the involvement of more universities and scientific research institutes in space science and technology research, is to be held once in every quarter. -0-
