National Schoolchildren's Art Festival Held

Pyongyang, May 8 (KCNA) -- The 58th National Schoolchildren's Art Festival took place in the DPRK.

The festival opened on the occasion of the significant Day of the Sun was attended by more than 1 300 schoolchildren across the country.

The festival was held, divided into folk songs contest of members of art groups of schoolchildren's palaces and halls, schoolchildren's art individual contest and provincial schoolchildren's art performance. The participants well represented the happy appearance of the children growing up to be reserve artistes at modern extracurricular educational bases built under the loving care of the Workers' Party of Korea.

There took place a presentation of the schoolchildren highly appreciated at the folk songs contest and the individual contest.

At a closing ceremony held on May 7, the commendations of the Central Committee of the Socialist Patriotic Youth League were conferred on organizations in Pyongyang City and North Hamgyong, South Phyongan and South Hamgyong provinces that fully displayed their artistic talents through colorful works. -0-
