Pyongyang, May 11 (KCNA) -- Rodong Sinmun in an article Sunday says it is the comprehensive development of socialism and the comprehensive rejuvenation of our state to change the appearance of cities, counties and rural areas, the regional bases and the lowest units that form the whole territory of the DPRK and support our state system, and to rebuild the regional economy on a completely new and advanced basis on a nationwide scale.

It is the firm determination of the Workers' Party of Korea to bravely shoulder the huge historic task of eliminating the centuries-old backwardness and fetters of the countryside which no one has done, and to bring about a brilliant fruition at any cost, thus ushering in a new era of regional rejuvenation.

When not only the capital city but also all the regions of the country achieve an independent and many-sided development, the overall national power of the country will be raised and a sustainable and stable development phase will be opened.

Our Party's Regional Development 20×10 Policy is a great eventual line that has been decided on the basis of the guarantee for implementing in a planned way, and a great action programme for bringing earlier the new era of comprehensive national rejuvenation.

Our Party's plan on the regional development is to ensure that the regional people enjoy the same material life with the citizens of the capital and live free from care in good health in cultural and sanitary environments like the capital.

The essence in ensuring long-term development of the regions is to firmly prepare their own forces capable of leading the economic and cultural rejuvenation of cities and counties.

Thanks to the energetic leadership of the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un, the unprecedented gigantic undertakings for the long-term development of the regions are being pushed forward with.
