Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- In the Mangyongdae area of Pyongyang, the capital city of the DPRK, there is a sports village in Chongchun Street which contributes to the country's sports development and sports exchange with different countries of the world.

Working people, youth and students, to say nothing of athletes, have frequented the sports village. The village has stadiums and gymnasiums able to host tens of sports events, including football, basketball, table tennis and weightlifting, as well as neighborhood-serving amenities.

This comprehensive sports base is associated with the leadership feats of the respected Comrade Kim Jong Un who has worked heart and soul for the country's sports development.

One day in March 2013, Kim Jong Un visited the sports village in Chongchun Street with a plan to renovate it as required by the new century. Touring various gymnasiums, the restaurant for sportspersons, etc., he indicated concrete tasks and ways for the renovation. He stressed that to reconstruct and repair the sports village is an important undertaking to glorify the leadership exploits of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il associated with it and bring about a radical turn in the country's sports work.

True to his on-site instructions, the builders completely renewed the appearance of the sports village in a short span of time.

After the reconstruction, various international games and domestic games including the DPRK Championships and the inter-provincial mass sports contest took place at the sports village. -0-
