Construction of Greenhouses for Raising Rice Seedlings Brisk in DPRK

Pyongyang, March 10 (KCNA) -- The construction of greenhouses for raising rice seedlings is progressing apace in the DPRK.

This year, hundreds of thousands of square meters of greenhouses for raising rice seedlings will be built across the country to transplant rice seedlings, grown in an advanced way, in many areas.

Pyongyang Municipality worked out a plan for building more labor- and land-saving greenhouses and sped up the work for its fulfillment, thus providing conditions for transplanting in many paddy fields rice seedlings grown in greenhouses.

Districts and counties of Nampho Municipality have set the sites for building greenhouses in the areas with favorable water supply and rice seedling transport conditions and concentrated efforts and means on their construction.

Hamhung City, on the basis of giving precedence to the design of greenhouses suited to the actual conditions of the region, simultaneously pushed ahead with the work to make seedling containers with local raw materials and secure soilless substrates. As a result, more than 10 greenhouses were built to grow healthy rice seedlings safely without being affected by natural conditions.

Hoeryong City is building greenhouses for intensively growing rice seedlings.

Other regions, too, are building greenhouses with favorable conditions for raising rice seedlings. -0-
