Sci-tech Measures Taken to Increase Yield of Earlier Crops per Hectare in DPRK

Pyongyang, May 24 (KCNA) -- Rural areas in North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK are directing efforts to increasing the yield of earlier crops.

The province has established a well-regulated system for controlling the growth of wheat and barley in each field and directed efforts to manuring and cultivating them in a scientific and technological way.

Singye, Suan and Koksan counties have increased the areas under wheat cultivation 1.3 times this year, while making intensive survey of the growth of each unit and field and taking nutrition care of them.

Farms in Sariwon City and Kumchon County are concentrating efforts on introducing farming methods suited to the geographical features.

Agricultural workers in Unpha and Phyongsan counties are paying attention to preventing soil moisture and nutrients from being lost.

Rinsan County is applying plant nutrients and growth-promoting agents on a regular basis in consideration of temperature, humidity, sunshine and others to ensure increased grain production.

Agricultural workers in Sohung, Sangwon, Thosan and other counties have taken measures to prevent damage by harmful insects, damp and drought. -0-
