Pyongyang, April 2 (KCNA) -- The Japanese imperialists, who fabricated the "Ulsa Five-point Treaty" by means of military blackmail and fraud, set up the residency-general in Korea, a barbarous colonial ruling body, in 1906, despite the fact that the "treaty" was illegal and invalid in the light of international law.

In the period of the resident-general's rule, the Japanese imperialists established a foundation for their colonial rule over Korea in earnest.

They promulgated an ordinance on prohibiting "free entry" into the royal palace so as to disallow any Korean to meet the Korean emperor without their approval and shackle the emperor. And they let the Japanese dispatched by the residency-general rule all the fields directly. The resident-general was just the supreme ruler with the authority to handle all legislative, judicial, administrative and military affairs of Korea.

The Japanese imperialists realized their domination over the whole of Korea by relying on the residency-general. They cooked up "Mineral mining law", "Oriental Development Company" and others to plunder underground, marine and land resources of Korea and take control of its finance.

And they enforced colonial slave education and closed patriotic private schools, while bringing huge troops to Korea to support the rule of the resident-general.

At the order of Hirobumi Ito, the first resident-general, the Japanese imperialists brutally massacred the patriots of Korea who rose up in resistance to the colonial rule. They hurled armed troops into major cities and even remote mountainous areas of Korea to commit hideous massacre and arson, destroying and looting cultural assets at random.

Owing to the resident-general's rule spanning nearly five years, feudal Joson (Korea) collapsed completely and the colonial fascist ruling system of the Japanese imperialists was established. Therefore, Koreans were forced to undergo untold misfortune and sufferings. -0-
