Lunar New Year's Day Celebrated in DPRK

Pyongyang, February 18 (KCNA) -- All the people across the country joyfully celebrated the significant lunar New Year's Day.

Many people visited the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the sacred temple of Juche, on the occasion of the lunar New Year's Day.

At the plaza of the Kumsusan Palace of the Sun, the masses looked back upon the sacred revolutionary careers of President Kim Il Sung and Chairman Kim Jong Il with deep reverence.

Officials, working people, service personnel, youth and students visited the statues of the peerlessly great leaders on Mansu Hill and mosaics depicting them in other parts of the country to lay flower baskets, bouquets and flowers before them and make bows.

The national flag of the dignified DPRK fluttered in new streets, villages and factories. Cheerful songs and laughter were heard from the families across the country.

Performances in theatres of Pyongyang and regions revved up the festive mood.

Schoolchildren played folk games, such as kite-flying, top spinning and rope-skipping, at the plaza of the Arch of Triumph in Pyongyang and different places of the regions on the occasion of the holiday.

Public catering establishments across the country, Central Zoo, Natural History Museum and other leisure facilities were crowded with citizens enjoying the holiday.

Gorgeous light decorations in different parts of the capital city, including Saeppyol, Hwasong and Jonwi streets wonderfully built as monumental edifices in the era of the Workers' Party, added to the festive mood. -0-
