Natural Monument - Ryonju Pool

Pyongyang, May 21 (KCNA) -- Ryonju Pool is located in the area around Kuryong Pool of Outer Kumgang in Mt Kumgang, a famous mountain of the DPRK.

In the north of it is a high cliff and Kuryong Pool is 400 meters south-west of it.

Ryonju Pool consists of two ponds, formed due to erosion by glaciers and water flow of many years. The upper pond is 10 meters long, 5~6 meters wide and 6 meters deep, and the lower one is 20 meters long, 8~9 meters wide and 9 meters deep.

Water gathers in the two ponds on the white broad rocks and overflows.

At the upper top of the pool is a square rock across the valley. And the water runs down 3-4 meters from there like a thin silk canvas, which is Ryonju Falls.

Ryonju Pool is in good harmony with falls, valleys, white rocks, mountains and green woods.

The pool is named Ryonju as it looked like two beams stringed together. The pool is registered as a natural monument and is under protection. -0-
