One day in June 2016, the respected General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the Pyongyang Kim Jong Suk Silk Mill.

He went round various places of the mill and dropped in at a newly-built production site.

Taking in modern equipment there at a glance, he asked with a tone of joy and surprise if it is really home-made.

Officials said with pride that the equipment was something hard to venture in the past, but it was manufactured by ourselves with the spirit of self-reliance and self-development implanted by the General Secretary.

The mill set a high goal to unconditionally build the latest production lines conducive to improving the people's living standards in reliance on our own efforts, technology and resources and successfully established modern production lines in touch with scientists, technicians and workers in relevant fields.

The General Secretary opened the protective windows to look at the inside and outside of equipment and then personally called a university researcher, who contributed to its manufacture, and warmly grasped his hand.

Praising the researcher repeatedly, he said with pleasure that the manufacture of such modern equipment was a great success.

Upon receiving the high appreciation of Kim Jong Un, the officials came to realize the true meaning that only when the self-development capability is steadily enhanced in reliance on science and technology, is it possible to bring about a surge and a leap forward in production. -0-
