Vegetable Gardens and Greenhouses at Wisong Scientists Residential District

One day in June 2014, the respected Comrade General Secretary Kim Jong Un visited the Wisong Scientists Residential District under construction.

While guiding the district construction, the General Secretary pointed to a wide vacant lot between apartments and asked about what to be built there.

After hearing the officials' reply that it was planned to build a resting place and a playground, he said it would be better to turn the vacant lot into a vegetable garden. And he added that scientists would be glad, if vegetable gardens are created between apartments to prepare vegetables for winter Kimchi, along with small greenhouses built to suit the characteristics of the residential district in a suburb of Pyongyang.

Then he instructed the officials to reflect in the general layout such vegetable gardens and greenhouses and include their construction in the project plan so as to build them in a qualitative way.

The officials looking up to him were filled with excitement. They had never thought that October, when the residential district was to be inaugurated, was on the eve of kimchi-making season. They only cared about the number of rooms and their width at modern multi-storey apartments in the district and about its structures, and nobody was concerned even about the vegetables issue for the owners to live there.

After all, the vegetable gardens and greenhouses with good vegetable yields came to appear at the time of moving into new houses in the Wisong Scientists Residential District. -0-
