Area of Economic Forests Expanded in N. Hwanghae Province of DPRK

Pyongyang, November 13 (KCNA) -- North Hwanghae Province of the DPRK has conducted the work to create economic forests on a mass scale, thus expanding the area 1.3 times as against last year.

Yonthan and Koksan counties created hundreds of hectares of natural raw materials bases while ensuring the survival rate of Aronia melanocarpa and pine-nut trees by introducing a scientific tree-planting method suited to the characteristics of species and the regional soil conditions.

Officials and working people of Singye County planted chestnut, wild pear and other trees in the surrounding mountains to create a large area of wild-fruit forests.

Rinsan and Sohung counties planted walnut, Evodia daniellii Benn and other trees of great economic value, with a plan to suit the regional climatic and soil conditions.

Working people in Phyongsan, Pongsan, Suan and other counties, too, directed efforts to securing seeds of superior species, providing conditions for their growth and manuring and tending them to increase the area of oil-fruit forests and paper forests. -0-
