Sword dances in Koguryo tomb murals show the courageous spirit of the resourceful and brave people at that time and the fact that sword dances were widely being performed.

The sword dance was also popular in the period of Koryo (918-1392). It can be well known by the fact that the sword dance was included in some folk dances of the period.

Later, the sword dance was developed into the one with high artistic skill.
