Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- The work to increase the proportion of mechanization in farm work is propelled across the DPRK.

South Hwanghae Province worked out plans for securing hundreds of harvester combines, enhancing the horsepower of tractors and producing wheat and barley planters and other farm machines, and is making preparations for carrying them out by regions and units.

North Hamgyong Province built the Hoeryong City Farm Machine Station as a model and, on the basis of its experience, has consolidated the material and technical foundations at other city and county farm machine stations. It also has encouraged the employees at the Chongjin Tractor Parts Factory and the Chongjin Trailing Farm Machine Factory to fulfill their responsibility in carrying out the assigned tasks.

South Phyongan Province has ensured that cities and counties put the mechanization on a high level in conformity with their regional characteristics. It also made sure that the lowland and intermediate zones with lots of paddy fields have secured efficient farm machines and the mountainous areas have increased the proportion of small- and medium-sized farm machines.

North Phyongan, North Hwanghae, South Hamgyong and other provinces, too, are striving to increase the proportion of mechanization in this year's farming. -0-
