Pyongyang, May 31 (KCNA) -- A delegation of the National Intelligence Agency of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea took part in the 14th International Meeting of High-Level Security Representatives on the theme of "Challenges and Threats to International Security in the Context of the Emergence of the Multipolar World", the main schedule of the First International Security Forum held in Russia on May 28.
Present there were members of security and diplomatic fields including the Security Council, the External Intelligence Bureau and the Foreign Ministry of the Russian Federation, and delegations from more than 150 countries and international bodies.
After a congratulatory speech of Russian President Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin to the participants in the international meeting via video, a video program on major recent challenges and threats in the field of international and regional security was screened.
Ri Chang Dae, general director of the National Intelligence Agency of the DPRK who is heading its delegation, made a speech.
Congratulating the successful holding of the First International Security Forum, he appreciated that the forum is of great political significance in defending global peace and security and realizing international justice.
In order to put an end to the global security crisis and instability, all countries should build up their own security capabilities, closely promote solidarity and cooperation in the course of building a multi-polar world and unite on the principles of respect, equality and mutual benefit to oppose specialization and double standards in international politics, he said.
The DPRK is stockpiling and steadily bolstering up its strongest strength, he said, adding that it is aimed at defending its own security and the genuine era of peace without war forever. He extended full support and encouragement to the Russian army and people who are all out in accomplishing the sacred cause of defending the sovereign rights, security and interests of the country.
On the same day, the head of the delegation of the DPRK NIA met and had a talk with Sergei Shoigu, secretary of the Security Council of the Russian Federation.
The talks discussed the issues of thoroughly defending the core interests of the two countries and effectively coping with the global and regional security challenges through close cooperation between the two countries' security and intelligence institutions. -0-
