Congresses of WPK Recorded in History of Korean Revolution

Pyongyang, February 20 (KCNA) -- The Workers' Party of Korea convened its congresses in each period and at every stage of the revolution to set clear fighting policies and goals and has led the struggle to realize them.

The significant Party congresses recorded in the sacred course of the WPK were the historic watersheds that brought about a fresh development and leap forward of the Korean revolution.

At this significant moment of greeting the Ninth Congress of the WPK, the DPRK people are looking back with emotion upon the congresses of the WPK brilliantly recorded in the history of the country.

 

Inaugural Congress of Party

 

The inaugural congress of the WPK was held in Pyongyang from October 10 to 13, 1945, the year when Korea was liberated.

In his historic report "On Building a Marxist-Leninist Party in Our Country and Its Immediate Tasks", President Kim Il Sung analyzed the prevailing political situation at home and abroad. On this basis, he stressed the need to form the Central Organizing Committee of the Party as its central leadership, and clarified the organizational line and political line of the WPK.

Kim Il Sung clarified the Party’s organizational line, including the issue of building up the organizational backbone of the Party with the excellent communists tested and seasoned in the protracted and arduous revolutionary struggle as the core and the issue of turning the Party into a mass party firmly based on the proletarian class.

In the political line of the Party, he defined it as the basic political task to found the Democratic People's Republic and develop it into a prosperous, democratic, independent and sovereign state and set forth the tasks for its realization.

The congress formed the Central Organizing Committee of the Party and declared the founding of our Party before the world. -0-
