Construction Projects for Independent Economy Completed in DPRK

Pyongyang, January 26 (KCNA) -- Construction projects conducive to developing the self-supporting economy have been completed one after another in different parts of the DPRK.

The construction of a new dam on the Songchon River was finished. The completion provides another guarantee for pushing ahead with the development of the self-supporting economy by fully supplying industrial water to the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex, the February 8 Vinalon Complex, the Hungnam Pharmaceutical Factory and other industrial establishments in the Hamhung area.

A catalyst production base and a process for producing slow effective granule urea fertilizer were newly established at the Hungnam Fertilizer Complex. The establishment of the base and the process opened up a prospect for providing various catalysts necessary for normalizing fertilizer production by itself and supplying effective fertilizer in a larger quantity to the socialist countryside.

North Hwanghae Province remodeled the Kyongam Building Materials Factory and the Sariwon Educational Apparatus Factory, thus laying a material and technical foundation for mass-producing finishing building materials in reliance on local raw materials and for manufacturing and supplying various school fixtures and experimental apparatuses necessary for teaching and improving the practical abilities of students.

South Hwanghae Province completed the project for remodeling the Haeju Farm Machine Factory, thus laying a material and technical foundation for serial production of various kinds of farm machines.

Inauguration ceremonies were held at relevant units on January 25. -0-
