Pyongyang, September 21 (KCNA) -- Pak Thae Song, member of the Presidium of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Workers' Party of Korea and premier of the Cabinet of the Democratic People's Republic of Korea, made a field survey of various sectors.
He visited Samjiyon City. He learned about the progress made in the projects, going round the area of Lake Chon on Mt Paektu, the northern area of Mt Phothae, Samjiyon Airport, the Ponnamu Hotel, the Ikkal Hotel and other major construction projects being accelerated under the grandiose plan of the Party Central Committee to turn the area of Mt Paektu into a cultural tourist resort frequented by the DPRK people and foreigners.
He stressed that the construction headquarters should map out plans and guide the work skillfully as required by the Party's Juche-oriented idea on architecture and policy on construction and thoroughly ensure the quality of structures by enhancing the responsibility and role of operators and inspectors and push ahead with the projects as scheduled in line with the seasonal conditions.
Inspecting farms in Pochon and Kapsan counties, he stressed the need to actively introduce the scientific farming methods suited to the characteristics of the regions with high altitude and promote stockbreeding to take advantage of the favorable conditions of mountainous counties.
Acquainting himself with the situation of the Jenam Coal Mine of the Tokchon Area Coal-mining Complex and the Pukchang Thermal Power Complex, he called for increasing coal and power production in the spirit of self-reliance based on science and technology, raising the proportion of mechanization, lowering the standard of material consumption per unit and rationally using various economic levers to further boost the enthusiasm of the producers.
The field consultative meetings discussed the issue of giving top priority to the supply of materials for the construction of the Samjiyon Tourist Resort and making preparations for its operation, the issue of providing equipment and materials necessary for normalizing power and coal production in time and the issue of paying deep attention to improving the living conditions of the builders and employees. -0-
